Corporate Grants

 

1.   Alcoa Foundation  
      Program type: grants

      Program details: Grants can’t be submitted directly to the Alcoa Foundation without the
      support of the local Alcoa grant contact.  Unsolicited proposals are accepted, but only a
      limited number are funded.  Priority is given to areas that are near an Alcoa plant.

 

 2. Allstate 
      Program type: grants

      Program details: Allstate offers grants in three areas: safe and vital communities,
      economic empowerment, and tolerance, inclusion, and diversity.  All applicants must
      pass an online eligibility quiz to access contact information and proposal guidelines.

 3. American Eagle Outfitters   
      Program name: AE Foundation
      Program type: grants and donations

      Program details: The AE Foundation offers a limited number of $25 gift card donations
      to high school sponsored events that aim to keep teens safe.  In addition, a limited
      number of grants is available.  See Web site for a list of guidelines and restrictions.  All
      requests should be submitted to the address provided.

4. AT&T   
      Program name: AT&T Foundation

      Program details: “The AT&T Foundation supports initiatives that improve student 
      achievement, teacher preparedness, minority student success and increase the use of  
      new technologies, from kindergarten to the university.”  AT&T accepts unsolicited
      grant applications but is unlikely to offer funding.
     

5. AutoZone  
     Program type: grants

     Program details: All grant proposals must be submitted to the address found on the
     Web site.  Proposals are not accepted through fax or email.
     Deadline: Proposals should be received in February to be considered for funding in
     AutoZone’s next fiscal year, which begins in September.


6.  Best Buy 
     Program type: donations

     Program details: Each Best Buy store has an annual budget for donations to local youth-
     oriented non-profit organizations.  Store Donation Applications can be picked up at local 
     stores.

 7. Best Buy 
      Program name: Te@ch awards

      Program details: Te@ch awards recognize schools and individual teachers who use
      interactive technology in their curriculum.  Awards are given out on local, regional and 
      national levels.  Applications for the each competition are available in July.
      Deadline: Sept. 30

 

8.  Blockbuster 
      Program type: grants

      Program details: Blockbuster offers grants for projects that meet one of the following
      criteria: focuses on video/film industry, impacts children/families, supports a
      Blockbuster business objective, or has clearly defined and measurable goals.
      Deadline: Requests are reviewed monthly.

9.  Borders   
      Program name:  Benefit Days

      Program details: Borders donates a percentage of all proceeds from Benefit Days events
      to participating organizations.  Local schools participate by distributing coupons and
      publicizing the event. (Benefit Days are held during a weekend specified by Borders.)
     

10. Burger King 
      Program type: donations of money or food

      Program details: All contribution requests should be mailed to Burger King Corporation.
      The request should include a program description, expected outcomes and program
      milestones.

11. Citigroup Foundation 
      Program type: grants

      Program details: Citigroup prefers to solicit proposals from potential grant recipients but
      will accept unsolicited proposals as well.  For more information, contact the closes U.S.
      contributions coordinator.

12. CVS 
      Program name: All Kids Can

      Program details:  This program supports non-profit organizations that provide
      “innovative programs and services that are focused on helping children with disabilities
      learn, play and succeed in life.”  All applications must be submitted online.
      Deadline: varies by program

 

13. Delta Airlines 
      Program name: Delta Airlines Foundation

      Program details: Applications can be found online.  See Web site for a list of specific
      requirements.
      Deadline: Applications are reviewed March 1, June 1, Sept. 1 and Nov. 1.

 

14. Dollar General  
      Program type: grants

      Program details: Dollar General offers two kinds of grants – community grants and
      back-to-school grants.  Applications for both programs can be found online.
      Deadline: The deadlines for community grants are March 5 and June 5.  Applications
      for back-to-school grants are due Aug. 11.

 

15. Dollywood

      Program details: All potential applicants are encouraged to send a letter of inquiry to

20. Gap Inc.  
      Program name: Appreciation Cards

      Program details: The Gap Foundation donates appreciation cards to schools to use
      as student incentives or as raffle or auction items in fundraising events.  Cards are
      available for GAP, Banana Republic and Old Navy.  Organizations may receive only
      one card each year.

21. Gifts in Kind  
      Program type: donations, special pricing on items

      Program details: In order to be eligible for donations, organizations must register through
      the Web site.  There is a general product donation request form that should be used for
      most requests.  However, some items require a special program application.

 

22. Glidden   
      Program name: Colorful Classrooms campaign
      Web site:http://www.glidden.com/community/cclassrooms.jsp
      Program details: The purpose of this program is to bring color into kindergarten
      classrooms in public schools.  Glidden’s color experts design and personalize the color
      schemes for each classroom.  Nomination forms can be found online.  A “before” photo
      of the classroom must be sent in addition to the nomination form.

23. Goody’s

      Program details: Goody’s donates on the local and corporate level.  For information on

      Program details: Heinz offers grants to programs that promote nutrition, youth and
      education, diversity, healthy children and families, or quality of life.  Requests must be
      submitted in writing to the address or email address given on the Web site.

 

25. Hewlett-Packard 
      Program name: Technology for Teaching
      Program type: grants

      Program details: These grant support the innovative use of mobile technology in
      education.  This program also helps HP identify schools that may be awarded grants in
      the future.
      Deadline: Check Web site each October for an updated timeline of the current
      competition.

 

26. hhgregg   
      Program type: grants and donations

      Program details: To apply for a grant, fill out the contribution request form found on the
      Web site.  Requests are accepted in writing and may be mailed or faxed to hhgregg’s
      community support committee at the corporate office.
      Deadline: Requests should be submitted at least 60 days prior to the date needed.

 

27. The Home Depot 
      Program type: donations and grants

      link at the bottom of the page, then We Build CommUnity under How We’re Helping)
      Program details: Each store’s management team has funds to support local giving for
      organizations seeking product donations under $250.  CommUnity Impact Grants are   
      also available for constructing, maintaining and refurbishing playgrounds.  Those
      wanting to apply for a CommUnity Impact Grant must first take and pass The Home
      Depot’s online eligibility quiz.

      Program type: grants

      Program details: All applicants must fill out Home Federal Foundation’s grant
      application, which can be found online.
      Deadline: Check the Web site for the deadline for the current round of funding. 

 

29. IBM 
      Program type: grants
      Web site: http://www.ibm.com/ibm/ibmgives/grant/index.shtml
      Program details: Priority for grants is given to requests that involve the use of IBM
      technology or the volunteer efforts of IBM employees.  Anyone who wants to submit an
      unsolicited grants proposal must first send a two-page letter of inquiry to the district
      contact.

30. International Paper
      Program type: grants

      Program details: To be eligible for a grant, programs must focus on environmental
      education, literacy or minority career development.  Grant proposal forms can be found
      online.  Completed applications should be submitted to a local International Paper facility.

      Program details: JC Penney offers a limited number of grants outside of their national
      contribution priorities.
     

32. Kellogg’s    
      Program name: W.K. Kellogg Foundation
      Web site: http://www.wkkf.org/
      Program details:  offers grants in the areas of health, education and agriculture.  All
      applicants are required to send in a pre-proposal. Submitting this form online is
      preferred but not required.  An outline for the pre-proposal can be found on the
      foundation’s Web site.

 

33. Kroger  
      Program name: The Kroger Co. Foundation

      Program details: supports charitable and non-profit organizations in communities where
      Kroger stores are located.  Grant proposals should be submitted through the community
      relations department of the retail division office.  Kroger does not use a specific grant
      application.  Contribution guidelines can be found on Kroger’s Web site.

34. Kodak  
      Program type: grants and equipment donations

      Program details: All applicants are required to submit a formal proposal in addition to
      other requested materials.  Requirements for the proposal and a list of additional
      attachments can be fund on the Web site.
      Deadline: Kodak will accept requests Jan. 1 - April 30 of each year.


35. Lowe’s
      Program name: Charitable and Educational Foundation

      Program details: offers grants for projects to improve communities through K-12
      education and community improvement projects.  All applicants are required to take an
      online eligibility test before a grant proposal will be considered.

 

36. Lowe’s   
      Program name: Outdoor Classroom Project

      Program details: One hundred grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded to schools for
      outdoor classroom projects.  Grants of $20,000 may be awarded to schools with major  
      outdoor classroom projects.

37. Lowe’s 
      Program name: Toolbox for Education

      Program details: Grants of up to $5,000 are awarded for school improvement projects
      that are initiated by parents.  Projects must be completed within one year to be eligible.
      Deadline: Applications are reviewed in March and November every year.

 

38. Mead

      Program details: Mead accepts only written requests.  All requests should be mailed to the

      Program details: All proposals must be made in writing.  See Web site for specifications.

 

41. Microsoft 
      Program type: grants and equipment donation
      Web site: http://www.microsoft.com/citizenship/giving/
      Program details: K-12 schools are not eligible for funding for programs that take place
      during school hours.  However, programs that are run by a nonprofit or nongovernmental
      organization during non-school hours may qualify if they provide services to the
      community.

 

42. Office Max 
      Program type: grants and donations

      Program details: may donate school supplies or recognize outstanding teachers.  Office
      Max will consider funding requests from K-12 schools as well as organizations that     
      support them, such as PTAs.  An OfficeMax OneCommunity Fund contribution request
      cover sheet must be submitted for all requests.  (This form can be found online.)
      Deadline: Funding requests are reviewed on a quarterly basis and should be submitted   
      by Feb. 28, May 30, Aug. 31, or Nov. 30.

 

43. Radio Shack
      Program name: StreetSentz Community Grant Program

      Program details: offers grants of $500 or less for programs that deal with family
      violence/child abuse or child abduction.  To access the application, applicants must first
      take an eligibility quiz on the Web site.  Grants are awarded on a quarterly basis.
      Deadline: Grant proposals should be submitted by March 15, June 15, Sept. 15, or
      Dec. 15.

44. Panasonic

      schools will win $5,000 in free school supplies.

      Deadline: Letters of inquiry should be submitted during one of the review periods.
      Feb. 1–March 1 or Aug. 1–Sept. 1. Any letters that are submitted at other
      times will not be considered for a grant.

 

50. State Farm   
      Program type: grants

      Program details: Grants are only available to programs that target safety, community
      development or education.  Only one proposal per organization is considered each year.
      Proposals should be sent to the nearest State Farm office.

      Program type: grants

      Program details: Local Target stores offer grants to programs that focus on the arts,
      early childhood reading or family violence prevention.  Applications are reviewed as
      they are received, so it is best to apply as early as possible.  To access the application and
      proposal specifications, applicants must first pass an online eligibility quiz. 
      Deadline: Applications will be accepted March 1 – May 31, 2007.

 

52. Toshiba America Foundation 
      Program type: grants

      Program details: Toshiba America Foundation offers grants to programs that promote
      quality science and mathematics education in U.S. schools.  To be considered for funding,
      the program should be inquiry-based and designed by an individual educator or a small
      group of teachers.  Grant applications can be found online.

 

53. Toyota  
      Program name: Toyota USA Foundation
      Program type: grants

      Program details: Toyota USA Foundation offers grants to improve the quality of K-12
      education with an emphasis on math and science.  Applications for this program can be
      found online.

 

54. TVA  
      Program type: donations

      Program details: may contribute money, volunteer efforts, or surplus supplies,
      equipment and materials to public schools.  “TVA’s support for public education   
      emphasizes learning activities associated with energy and environmental education as
      well as vocational and technical education in skill areas that are vital to TVA’s
      workforce.”  To apply, fill out the request form for donations found on the Web site.  

 


55. U.S. Cellular 
      Program type: grants and equipment donations

      Program details: Applications can be found online.  A proposal must be submitted in
      addition to the application.  Guidelines for the proposal can be found online.

 

56. Verizon Wireless

      Program details: To be eligible for a grant, the program must focus on literacy or
      domestic violence.  All grant proposals must be submitted online.  Applicants may take
      an online eligibility quiz to determine whether or not they qualify.
      Deadline: Proposals are accepted Jan. 1 through Nov. 30.

 

57. Walgreens

      Walgreens’ funding priorities are health and education.  To apply, fill out an online
