Steps to LearningSteps to Learning Success

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I speak for all Knox County educators when I say we want your child to excel in learning as he or she progresses through our school system. A strong partnership between dedicated education professionals and informed parents is needed to achieve this goal. This "Steps to Learning" site is designed to help you better understand what your child will learn. It also can serve as a tool for communicating with your child's teacher throughout the year.

Establishing clear grade-level learning targets in each subject is important. It ensures that all teachers instruct the same skills and concepts. Through assessment of these targets, your child's teacher can determine his or her progress and performance level.

I encourage you to become familiar with the contents of this site and refer to it throughout the year. Use it as a basis for discussion about your child's progress. Compare these targets with the work your child brings home to see if he or she is "on target."

Our children are our future, and with your help, we are certain to reach our target: academic success for every child.

We look forward to working with you and to serving the education needs of your family. Thank you for being a member of the Knox County Schools family and please do not hesitate to let us know how we can better serve you.

Donna Wright

Sincerely,

Donna Wright
