Steps to LearningFourth Grade Health

The overall goal of health is to introduce students to basic knowledge and skills needed to establish healthy living habits and personal healthcare, and to recognize the availability of community health providers. In fourth grade, students will describe how decisions may affect their general health.

Students will:
  • describe the human reproductive system.
  • describe the work of local health agencies, (e.g. Health Department, pharmacies, hospitals).
  • recognize different points of view.
  • discuss how to assist others in an emergency.
  • compare functions of the human body's systems (e.g., skeletal, muscular, nervous, digestive, respiratory, circulatory).
  • describe steps the student and the community can take to promote safe environmental practices.
  • explain the relationship between weight, a balanced diet, and an exercise routine.
