Training
Knox County Schools Assistive Technology Services
Department provides training opportunities for teachers,
students, and other professionals in the community.
This training ranges from daily work with teachers and
students to presenting papers at professional conferences
includes:
(1) teaching and modeling the implementation of new strategies,
with hands-on training for students, teachers and/or parent,
to enable a student perform a specific task using an assistive
technology system.
(2) training teachers to use an assistive technology system
for their classroom that can help a number of students and
that can become a tool that the teacher can use with any
student who needs it.
(3) training students and teachers in using the newest technology
when participating in field testing of pre-release assistive
technology hardware and software systems.
(4) teaching professional learning session, as part of Knox
County Schools' in-service training programs, that address
how, when, and why to use assistive technology systems in
our classrooms.
(5) contributing to the broader assistive technology community
by presenting lectures, workshops, and other presentations
at state, national, and international conferences.
