The secret is out -- let the
tradition begin |
 |
Hardin Valley Academy will quickly
become known as the “Home of the Hawks.” On
Thursday, January 31, the Knoxville Zoo and Knox
Sports Center helped the Hardin Valley Academy staff
with the unveiling of the mascot which was selected
based on the vote of the students zoned to Hardin
Valley Academy. Kevin Hils, Director of Education
and Communication at the Knoxville Zoo, brought
one of their hawks to the meeting and told the audience
about its characteristics and special features. Knox
Sports Center came with T-shirts, Hoodies and Hats
displaying the mascot and school name to sell to
future students.
The hawk is indigenous to the Hardin Valley area
and is also the mascot of Hardin Valley Elementary. Hopefully,
as students look to the sky and see the hawk,
they will always be reminded that they, too,
can soar to great heights. |
