School Coupons Book Report 2006: New Record

Knox County Schools celebrated its most successfull School Coupons Book Campaign ever Friday with a luncheon for top-selling schools and students, corporate sponsors and school coupon coordinators.

Students sold 180,435 coupon books during the 2006 campaign. This represents a profit of $1,569,784.50, and it is an increase of 7,713 coupon books sold and $67,103.10 profit over the 2005 totals. Since 1989, a total of 2,248,735 coupon books have been sold to raise $19,253,364.50 for public schools in Knox County.

Top student sellers were Briana Wilcox-Barnett, A. L. Lotts Elementary (371), and Kaitlyn Doan, Farragut Intermediate (354). Briana will appear on the cover of next year's coupon book.

Top performing schools were Karns High (100% increase over last year), A. L. Lotts (Most per capita sales - 10.63) most books sold (11,850).

AmSouth distributed over $11,000 to schools for each additional book they sold over last year's total. Karns Middle was best with 986 additional books this year over last year.
