Judges to present program at Halls Middle School

Local judges will present a special assembly program about the use of alcohol and safe driving at Halls Middle School October 23, from 9:00 a.m. -11:30 a.m.

This multi-faceted presentation called “Courage to Live” is directed at eighth graders and focuses on making wise choices regarding alcohol and driving safety. Knox County General Sessions Court Judge Brenda Waggoner has been instrumental in planning this unique program.

The National Judicial College supported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has prepared judges in the six states with the worst alcohol impaired driving records to intervene with students on related safety issues. Particular emphasis is placed on the dangers of underage drinking and alcohol or drug impaired driving.\

here will be interesting activities, messages, video presentations, and a mock courtroom sentencing of a DUI offender. Video presentations of the program will be made available for every local middle school.

Media interested in attending this activity should contact the Knox County Schools Public Affairs Office.
