  National School Lunch Week Kickoff

 

Knox County Schools Food Service Department will begin the National School Lunch Week with a “Kick-off “ celebration on Friday, October 12 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at West Valley Middle School.

The American School Food Service Association has set aside the week of October 15-19 to participate in National School Lunch Week.This week is to promote school lunch on a local, state and national level.The menu is one that is distributed nationwide through the annual national conference.

National School Lunch Week was established in 1963 by a proclamation from President John F. Kennedy. He wrote, “I call upon the people of the United States to observe...National School Lunch Week, with ceremonies and activities designed to increase public understanding and awareness of the significance of the school lunch program to the child, to the home, to the farm, to industry, and to the Nation.”
