TeacherU

Access Teacher U
Logging on to TeacherU: Use your employee identification number to enter TeacherU; this number can be found on your pay stub. Do not use the zeros you might have at the beginning of your employee number, only the 4-5 digits at the end. For example, if your number is 0001234, only use 1234. You will need to create a 4-9 digit a personal identification number (pin) the first time you enter by clicking on the phrase, don’t have a PIN, to the right of the user I.D. box. Please remember your employee number and pin because you will need both each time you log on to Teacher U. The e-mail address listed for you should be your employment/business Ten-Nash account; no personal accounts can be used. Verify that the e-mail address, primary location, and registrant type listed on your profile is correct. If it is not, please call the PDC office, 579-8018, ext. 1051, to have it changed.

Welcome to “Teacher U.”

TeacherU is the main vehicle through which KCS employees can manage their professional development. You will

  • register for workshops, courses, and conferences on TeacherU
  • request credit for sessions completed outside KCS
  • develop your own professional growth plan and focus your development activities on that plan
  • view your record (transcript) of professional development activities
  • view evaluations of completed activities
  • see your schedule of activities for which you are registered

TeacherU can be utilized for school-based as well as system-wide activities. If you want to lead an inservice session, you will be able to go through your school administrator, who will both approve and post the session on TeacherU.

Beginning in the 2008-2009 school year, all unscheduled inservice credit will be recorded through TeacherU.

Online and Distant Learning Opportunities

The Professional Development Center continues to make available opportunities for distant learning so that the flexibility and convenience of professional development can be enhanced. If you search the course catalog for Online Courses, you will find all courses currently available. These are available to both certified and classified employees. You will want to read the description of the courses and the directions related to registration and evaluations; each course has unique information. Upon completion of the course, you will need to "Request an Out of District Transfer Credit", found on the course catalogue, and send to the PDC documentation of completion.

If you need any assistance, call the PDC office, 579-8018, ext. 1051.

TASL Credit

In accordance with Tennessee Code Annotated 49-5-5703, school administrators and supervisors employed in positions in which fifty percent or more of their time is spent delivering instructional services to teachers, principals and/or other instructional, administrative or supervisor/directory personnel, are presently required to attend 72 hours of TASL-sponsored activities during every five-year period.

As administrators finish their current five year cycle, a new two year cycle will begin which requires 28 hours of TASL approved activity. This requirement is optional for principals, supervisors, or other administrators with fifteen or more years of experience as a principal, supervisor, or other administrator unless the local board of education requires such attendance. All TASL-approved programs are comparable in quality and address national standards of competence for school administrators, the Master Plan for Tennessee, other state initiatives, and/or local goals and needs.
