Previous Maintenance Employees of the Quarter

Don Martin: While all five nominees deserve the award, the selection committee choose Don Martin for the first quarter of 2005. His nominator said it best: "Don has done more than we could ask for. If we have a problem he is prompt. He doesn't talk down to our teachers. He is upbeat and not a negative person. Our staff has a lot of confidence in him. We believe he is an outstanding person and employee of Knox County Schools."

ThompsonKen Thompson, Maintenance Employee for the Third Quarter, has been with the maintenance for three and a half years. He previously worked as a plumber for private companies for 15 years after moving here from Louisiana. Thompson coaches Little League for the Carter Youth Athletics. He enjoys hunting and the companionship of his colleagues in maintenance. He finds it very rewarding making the schools a better place for the students.

Darrell Sprouse

 

Darrell Sprouse: "Darrell is dependable, knowledgeable, and helpful. He is a great asset to the entire Maintenance Department." - Terry Carney, Maintenance & Operations
Darrell started with the school system at Belle Morris Elementary School as a substitute custodian before the city and county schools merged. In December of '82 he was hired as a full-time custodian at Sarah Moore Greene. While working as a custodian, Darrell earned his certification in HVACR from the State Technical School. He joined the HVAC department in 1989 and has served loyally there for the last 17 years.
