Final Summative Evaluation Report

Findings and Conclusions

Findings and conclusions of the study are presented by research question:
Research Question 9:  What is Knox County Schools’ vision for the magnet schools over the next five years?

Our interviews with school system and school personnel and Board members did not yield a coherent vision for the future.  There is a widespread desire for the magnet schools to continue to be a part, even a prominent part of the Knox County Schools.  There is also widespread acknowledgement of the current status of the magnet programs and a desire to improve current programs or reconceptualize and rebuild the magnet component of the school system.  Development and implementation of a coherent vision will take thought, dialogue, time, and resources.

Conclusions

There is not yet a coherent vision for future implementation of the magnet concept in the Knox County Schools.  However, there is widespread desire to maintain and enhance that educational component.
