REQUIREMENTS

Students are considered eligible for Beaumont Magnet if there is an accelerated learning pace, an interest in the arts, and the following nationally recognized achievement test scores are on or above the 85%ile.

  • Reading
  • Mathematics
  • Total Battery

In the absence of test scores, applicants may be assessed at Beaumont Magnet upon completion of the Magnet Application.  The Magnet Facilitator will schedule testing for the individual student as soon as notification of a completed application reaches the school.  Eligible students will be notified and if space is limited, placed into the Magnet Draw.  If a student does not meet the eligibility requirements, the Magnet Office will consult with the appropriate parent(s) or guardian(s) for possible application to another elementary Magnet school.

Opened in 1993, serving students in kindergarten through grade 5.

5choicesThe only school with an academic entrance requirement, Beaumont Magnet serves students with an accelerated, fast paced curriculum emphasizing arts and culture.  Students are grouped for advanced level, rigorous coursework in academic core subjects; technology is taught as a tool for research and publishing. 

Academic areas of reading and math are taught through a research based multi-sensory Success for All and Move It Math approach.

Arts enrichment: All students at Beaumont participate in and benefit from the arts.  They attend instrumental music, vocal music,visual arts, dance and physical education.

After School Enrichment: All students participating in the extended after school program have the opportunity to participate in areas such as choir, art, story telling, dance works, nature programming, computer engineering, and world music drumming.

GRADBeaumont is one of 14 Project GRAD schools in the Knox County System.
