Knox County Schools Hearing Services: Programs

 

PRESCHOOL SITE BASED HEARING PROGRAM (3 – 5)

  • Referrals are made through the Child Find Program.
  • Services are provided to eligible children who are deaf and hearing impaired based on need as determined by the Individualized Education Program (IEP) Team.
  • Early amplification and use of residual hearing is encouraged.
  • Early intervention with emphasis on intensive speech, language, and auditory training.
  • Follows normal progression of speech, language, and cognitive development.
  • Various amplification systems are utilized (hearing aids, cochlear implants, FM Systems, SUVAG Units).
  • Various methodologies are used including aural-oral, Verbotonal.
