Kayla Shope, Micah Bolden, Jeremy Janow, and Emily Bales spent the day working in the school systems central office. Here they give a helping hand in the Public Affairs Office.

Two hundred eighty nine Knox County eighth grade students spent May 25th and 26th in forty-five area businesses learning what it is like in the world of work as interns in the “Schooled for Success” summer internship program.

The students had the opportunity to explore various careers, accomplish appropriate employee tasks, be mentored by employees and employers, build a work record, and have a real and meaningful work experience. Eighth grade students from all 14 Knox County middle schools interned with many of Knoxville's employers.

The internship culminates a year long program in which students complete a portfolio focusing on self-assessment, career exploration, career planning,
pre-employment skills development and employment skills development.
