Schooled for Success summer internship: It Rocks! - students share their comments

  Kayla Shope, Micah Bolden, Jeremy Janow, and Emily Bales spent the day working in the school systems central office. Here they give a helping hand in the Public Affairs Office.

Nearly 300 eighth grade students from across Knox County spent May 25 and 26 in one of 45 businesses. At the conclusion of the two-day internship, participants had a few things to say about their experiences.

“I am interested in the occupations I saw because teaching has always been my dream.”

Micah from Halls Middle

Micah recommends the Schooled For Success internship program, “because it gives you a really good experience in having a job.”

Kayla from Holston Middle

“The internship can teach valuable lessons about finding a career.”

Shelbe from South-Doyle Middle

Shelbe recommends the summer internships, “because the two-day experience is so interesting. You learn a lot, and you might be able to change your decisions about work and life.”

“At the beginning it wasn’t that good, but as I learned more and more, it became one of the best experiences for me.”

“It was very good and informative. Also, it was a great hands-on experience.”

“I got to learn all I needed and got some inspiration for my career.”

“My highlights were learning about different units at the Sheriff’s Department and seeing the helicopter, motorcycles, and K-9 unit.”
