Knox County Schools Adult Education Now Offering Free GED Test

The Knox County Schools Adult Education Program is offering the GED test free of charge to eligible adults. The testing fee is normally $55. The GED test is free if you earn a minimum score of 430 on each of the Official Practice Test subtests and an overall test average of 480. Adults ages 18 and over no longer need an official age waiver or withdrawal form from high school to be eligible to take the exam.

The test is being offered at no cost thanks to an appropriation from the Tennessee Legislature which granted additional funding to the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development for adult education.
