A portrait of Sarah Simpson
will hang in the entrance of
the Sarah Simpson Professional
Development Technology Center
in memory of the dedicated
Knox County educator whose
influence is still felt throughout
the curriculum. Dr. Fred Patterson,
Supervisor of Visual Arts,
who painted the portrait, helped
present the portrait to Ms.
Simpson's daughters,
Melissa Santorum, and Jennifer
Grehan.

Leader and Innovator"
Sarah M.
Simpson served as an assistant superintendent
for curriculum and instruction for
Knox County Schools from 1987 through
2004. During her 40 year career
with the Knox County School System,
Sarah Simpson continuously challenged
students and educators to give their
very best every day. While serving
in a number of positions of great
responsibility, she helped establish
and maintain the highest educational
standards for students, teachers,
and administrators in Knox County.
Her dedication, leadership and wisdom
made her a respected figure among
educators throughout the state of
Tennessee.
