Deputy Superintendent of SchoolsRoy MullinsMr. Roy E. Mullins is presently serving as the Interim Superintendent as well as the Deputy Superintendent of Knox County Schools. Previously he served as the Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services. During this timeframe, he served as Interim Superintendent (1998-99). He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Carson Newman College and his Masters + 45 in Administration and Supervision from the University of Tennessee. He began his career in education in 1962 as a teacher at Central High School. In 1963 he transferred to Gibbs High School as a teacher and in 1970 was appointed the Assistant Principal. In 1973 he was appointed principal of Halls High School where he stayed until 1990. In 1990 he was promoted to Human Resources as a Supervisor, and in 1992 was named Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services. Mr. Mullins has been involved in education most of his adult life. He was past president of the Tennessee Education Association, Knox County Education Association, and East Tennessee Education Association. He is a life member of the Parent Teacher Association and served on the Boards of Adopt-A-School, Discovery Center, and Consumer Credit Council. Roy Mullins is a recipient of the Greater Knoxville Chamber of Commerce "Best" Award. |
