Do you need re-certification hours? Fall day and evening computer classes
have been approved to count as hour for hour credit toward your re-certification.
Register today - class size is limited. Classes will begin August 26th
with 24 hours of instruction for aneight (8) week course. Registration
for these classes has already begun. Among the classes offered are Windows,
Microsoft Office 2000, Word 2000, Excel 2000, PowerPoint 2000 and Keyboarding.
Register for these classes at the historic Knoxville High Building,
101 East 5th Avenue, Office 308 or Pre-register by phone. Please call
for more information or a schedule
of times and classes to be mailed. A $10 discount will be given
to Knox County Employees if six or more sign up. These classes are available
for all school employees. 594-3713.

Kids on the Block of Knoxville (KOBOK)
A new name for some very familiar faces! It’s time to schedule the Kids
on the Block of Knoxville (KOBOK) puppet programs for grades 1 6.
To schedule (if your guidance counselor hasn’t already):

Program topics for the 2002-03 school year:

1st
grade: Fire Safety (see note below)

2nd grade: Sexual and Physical Abuse
-
3rd
grade: disABILITIES (currently presenting ADHD, Mental Retardation,
Deafness, Cerebral Palsy)

4th
grade: 2 topics Divorce Bullying and Self-esteem 5th grade: Organ
Donation 6th grade: HIV/AIDS

Because of the previously high demand for this topic (fire safety)
during the month of October, we will be offering Fire Safety 4 times
daily, Monday Thursday, beginning Monday, September 30 through Thursday,
October 31. Our goal is to meet all Fire Safety requests during this
“Fire Safety Month”.
KOBOK
has a new office, offering direct contact with our staff puppeteers
Becky Ferguson, Susan Silber, Bonnie McCormick, Lisa Lambert and
a “host of volunteers”. We look forward to continuing our service to
the students and teachers of Knox County.
