Title I

Title I, under the Improving American’s Schools Act of 1994, is the largest federal aid program for elementary and secondary schools. Knox County Schools has participated in the Title I program since 1965. This federally funded program is designed to provide supplementary services to schools in the greatest economic need. Compensatory resources and special expertise are targeted at improving the school as a whole. The goal is for all students to meet state performance standards.
