Attendance Policy

State law requires that all children between the ages of six through eighteen, be enrolled in day school. Excuses for absences for students in grades K-8 must be made in writing or in person by a parent or guardian. Students with as many as five unexcused absences will be referred to the attendance and social services department. Students of high school age may lose their driver’s license for excessive absences. Aside from the obvious need for students to be present in school on a regular basis, absenteeism also decreases state monies available to local school systems.
