Dine out for Education March 11, 2008

DOFEAbout 30 restaurants with more than 50 locations, will participate in the fifth annual Dine Out for Education program to be held across Knox County all day March 11.

"All you have to do is eat at one of the Dine Out for Education restaurants on March 11," said Scott Bacon, Knox County Schools supervisor of business partnerships. "Eat every meal out or just one meal, and 10 percent of what you spend will be donated to the Knox County Schools Partners In Education program."

Participating restaurateurs have agreed to donate 10 percent of their pretax revenues for the day to the Partners In Education program.

"The proceeds in 2008 will dedicated to the purchase of the Junior Reference Collection and Discovering Collection on-line research tools for every library in the school system," said Bacon. "Last year over $19,000 was raised to help buy a new diagnostic van for our vision services program." According to Bacon, the Partners In Education program connects schools throughout Knox County with nearly 500 contributing organizations. Businesses, civic clubs, professional organizations, churches, government agencies, and even individuals are making differences in schools with their time, talent and resources. Organizations can join this effort by contacting the Public Affairs Office of the Knox
County School System at 594-1909.
