Turn dry-cleaning dollars into donations . . .Now each time you pick up that dry cleaning, you can drop off a donation for the school of your choice. How it worksWhen you visit any Prestige Cleaners location just write the name of the school you wish to support on the back of your cleaning receipt and drop it in the Project Classroom box. At the end of the year Prestige Cleaners will donate a percentage of retail sales to those schools. Prestige Cleaners launches fund raising program for KCS
January 18, 2007: Under Project Classroom Prestige will donate a percentage of retail sales revenue to individual Knox County schools every year. All eight Prestige locations in Knox County will participate in the program. “This will be a year-round program,” said Eddie Mannis, President of Prestige Cleaners. “All our customers need to do is write the name of the school they want to support on the back of their receipts when they pick up their cleaning, and drop the receipt in the display boxes that will be in all of our Knox County stores.” Prestige will donate a portion of the sales total to the schools the customers specify. In addition, Prestige has worked with the school system to identify several schools that will receive a portion of undesignated funds should customers choose not to identify a particular school. Prestige will present individual checks to the schools annually, and there will be no restrictions on how these funds may be used.
“Education must be a top priority for any community,” said Dr. Charles Lindsey, superintendent of Knox County Schools. “The support of businesses such as Prestige Cleaners is critical to ensuring that here in Knox County we are able to provide the best possible educational opportunities for our young people who will be the community leaders of the future.” Prestige is one of the largest independently owned drycleaners in the country. It opened in l985 with three employees and one store. The company now has over l60 employees, 8 stores in Knoxville and one in Oak Ridge. Its processing facility and corporate offices are located in Powell.
